There is a fire-ring down by the beach deck to view falling stars.
The Omena Neighborhood is historic,
Our property is the site of the first resort built in 1868 called the “Shab-wah-Sung Resort”, First resort in Omena. Named after Indian chief who lived on the Point with his band. Four houses down is “General Custer’s’ house” from the Civil and Indian wars. We have the book Omena for you to read “A Place in Time” that is a fascinating story of our little town. Omena, the town, is a designated historical point in Michigan. The buildings have not changed since the 1800s. There is a post office, Grocery/Liquor Store, Art Gallery, Museum, a destination bar and restaurant called “Knot Just a Bar” that is a 2 minute walk from Omena Bay Studio and Leelanau Wine Cellars, wine tasting room.
The Leelanau Peninsula
Is for wine tasting, biking, walking, hiking for romantic get-a-ways and contains over 41 public hiking areas, endless beaches, and ship-wrecks, fishing off the dock, snorkeling, boating, exploring, islands, blue waters, the National Sleeping Bear Dunes, Light houses and nature. Enjoy spectacular foliage during the fall, and all the winter sports close by are cross country and downhill skiing in the winter.
